If your product pages carry the same supplier copy as every other stockist, you are competing on identical content. SKULaunch replaces duplicate supplier descriptions with unique copy written from each product's verified attributes, so your pages stand on their own.
The problem
Suppliers send the same description to every retailer. Search engines see dozens of pages with identical text and pick one to rank, often the manufacturer or the biggest marketplace. Your page has nothing that sets it apart. Rewriting thousands of descriptions by hand is not realistic, so the duplicates stay.
Before and after
An illustrative example for a bathroom extractor fan.
Before: the copy on 40 other websites
"The XF100 is a stylish and powerful extractor fan, ideal for bathrooms and toilets, featuring a timer and quiet operation."
After: unique copy from SKULaunch
- Opening line tied to the buyer's job: clearing steam from a small bathroom
- 100 mm spigot, 85 m3/h extraction rate and adjustable overrun timer from the attributes
- Noise level and IP rating stated, not described as "quiet"
- Written in your voice and structure
How it works in SKULaunch
- Find the duplicates. Filter for products still carrying supplier-supplied descriptions.
- Enrich the attributes. Make sure the facts are complete, so the new copy has substance.
- Generate unique copy. Descriptions are written from each product's attributes, in your voice.
- Review and publish. Approve and replace the supplier text.
Unique means specific, not reworded
Spinning supplier text into different words does not help much. What makes a description genuinely unique is specificity: the exact figures, what is included, who it suits and how it compares within your range. Copy built from your own enriched data is naturally different from everyone else's, because your data is.
What changes
Your product pages stop being copies, and give customers and search engines a reason to choose them.
Common questions
Do we keep the supplier copy?
It can be kept in a separate field for reference.
Will rewriting hurt existing rankings?
Pages ranking well can be left alone. Start with pages that do not rank.
How do we prioritise?
Start with categories where competitors use the same supplier copy and traffic matters most.
