Customers search in their own words, not yours. SKULaunch generates search keywords and synonyms for each product from its attributes and category, so a search for "jubilee clip" finds the product you call a hose clamp.
The problem
Site search only finds what is in the data. Trade terms, regional names, brand-name shorthand and common misspellings rarely appear in product titles. Customers search, get no results, and leave or call. Search teams patch it with synonym lists, one complaint at a time, and the list never keeps up with the range.
Before and after
An illustrative example for a hose clamp.
Before: what search can match
Title: "Worm drive hose clamp 12-22 mm stainless". Searches for "jubilee clip" return nothing.
After: keywords from SKULaunch
- Synonyms: jubilee clip, hose clip, worm drive clip
- Size terms: 12 to 22 mm, half inch hose
- Material variants: stainless, A2
- Held in a keyword attribute your search platform indexes
How it works in SKULaunch
- Add a keywords attribute. Create a field your site search indexes.
- Generate per category. Keywords are written from the product's type, attributes and common alternative names.
- Review. Check for irrelevant or competitor terms before approval.
- Publish to search. Send the keywords to your website or search platform.
Synonyms belong to the product, not the search box
Global synonym lists are blunt: map "clip" to "clamp" and paper clips start appearing in plumbing results. Holding search terms on each product keeps them precise. They also help AI assistants and marketplaces understand what a product is called in the real world, not just in your catalogue.
What changes
Fewer zero-result searches, and products found by the words customers actually use.
Common questions
Will this work with our search platform?
If it can index a product field, yes.
Can we add our own terms?
Yes. Edit or add terms during review.
Should we include competitor brand names?
Usually not. Review removes terms you should not target.
