A marketplace is only as good as its weakest listing. When third-party sellers submit thin or inconsistent product data, your search, filters and customer trust suffer. SKULaunch gives sellers your category requirements up front, measures their submissions against them, fills the gaps, and holds listings until they meet your standard.
The problem
Marketplace operators set content standards, but sellers rarely meet them. Listings arrive with missing attributes, seller-specific category names and copy pasted from elsewhere. The operator either rejects them, slowing onboarding and annoying sellers, or accepts them and lives with a catalogue that does not filter, compare or rank properly.
Before and after
An illustrative example from a home and garden marketplace.
Before: a new seller's first listing
Title: "BBQ COVER LARGE BLACK WATERPROOF HEAVY DUTY BEST QUALITY". Category: "Garden stuff". Attributes: colour only. Two images, one with a watermark.
After: the listing in SKULaunch
- Category: Barbecue covers, assigned from your taxonomy
- Dimensions, material and fit taken from the seller's spec and manufacturer data
- Title rebuilt to your marketplace formula
- Watermarked image flagged for replacement
- Listing approved only when the category's required attributes are complete
How it works in SKULaunch
- Publish your requirements. Each category's required attributes are set in SKULaunch and shown to sellers when they submit.
- Measure every submission. Completeness is checked against the category, so you see exactly what each listing lacks.
- Fill what you can. Missing attributes are enriched from the seller's data, datasheets and manufacturer pages, and titles and descriptions are written to your rules.
- Approve to standard. Listings move to Approved only when they meet the bar, then publish to your marketplace platform.
Set a standard sellers can actually meet
Sellers churn when requirements feel arbitrary. Keep the mandatory set per category short and factual, the things a seller genuinely knows, and take responsibility for the rest through enrichment. Explain rejections in a sentence. Operators that do this onboard sellers faster and end up with a more consistent catalogue than those that demand everything up front.
What changes
Sellers get clear requirements, listings reach your standard faster, and the catalogue customers see stays consistent however many sellers you add.
Common questions
Does this work with Mirakl?
SKULaunch connects to Mirakl. Confirm the right setup for your operator configuration with us before onboarding sellers at scale.
Can sellers still upload spreadsheets?
Yes. Files are imported and mapped to your attributes in the same way as portal submissions.
Who fixes the gaps, us or the seller?
Either. Return listings to the seller with a reason, or enrich them yourself to get them live faster.
